A catch up on some of the new changes and opportunities available for you in 2013
New Venue with Free Parking
In reviewing course attendee post course questionnaires, we have noticed that the lack of parking at the APA Offices, generated the most discussion. The area of Nedlands/Crawley is very accessible from lots of directions, has a good variety of food outlets, reasonable public transport & accommodation so we wanted to stay nearby, but have access to easy (and hopefully free parking). BINGO. We have been able to secure a lovely seminar room at Trinity residential college, on Hampden Road, Crawley, with 25 allocated car parking bays.
As a bonus Trinity is also offering discounts on their motel style accommodation as a Premium Partner of AAP Education. So if you are wanting a weekend away, traveling from country areas or interstate you will be staying in a beautiful area, at a great price and you can sleep in, as your course is held in the same complex.
Some courses will still be conducted at the APA Offices, as parking is not a real issue on weekends, but we will endeavor to have courses that merge into the week days to be held at Trinity.
New Structures
In starting at our new venue we have also made some logistical changes. One is to reduce the size of the Introductory Course to a maximum of 18. In the past this course has literally always been full and over subscribed. We have purchased 9 new amazing Athlegen treatment couches and these will be set up for 2 participants each. To alleviate the pressure of reduced numbers per course, we are conducting Introductory Courses now approximately every 3 months in Perth.
New Location
Another request we have been receiving (from physios that have traveled over) and from those not able, is to present in Brisbane. So I am heading off in June, to present a fast and furious 4 days of an Introductory Course, Advanced Upper Quadrant Course, Anatomy Wet Lab and Student Pizza & PD night - all at UQ. It will also provide a great chance to catch up with AAP Education participants in the area and have a chat.
New Courses
2013 sees the introduction of several new courses for AAP Education from some outstanding presenters.
- Dr. Phil Gabel presents a course on outcome measures and screening tools, hot on the heels of his 14 publications and PhD. called Is Bigger Better?
- Mr Peter Esselbach covers both RTUS and MSK US
- Dr.Shaun O'Leary is presenting Integrated Solutions for Complex Necks
- Mr. Mark Oliver is presenting his TMJ, SIJ & Pelvis and Mulligans Upper Quadrant
- I am conducting a couple of customised courses in Australia, our Master Needling Course and an intensive program for OTs and Podiatrists.
So all in all plenty of opportunity to boost your clinical skills and your PD portfolio hours (you need 2 per year). If you are a true PD connoisseur or a practice owner, check out our frequent PD flyer program called Your Education Fund - others are using it to great staff benefit.
All the best,
Doug Cary
