Education with Surprises

The course was run really well. The food was really amazing, which is very surprising these days. Great catering for sure.

The needling course was really well run and I liked how the theory part was incorporated with the real patients.

I did like the course manual which had different conditions and the management part of them, which is quite helpful.

I was able to use my skills on my patients on the very next day.

Thank you for all your help and support.

  • Doug's patient & helpful tips, guidance and reassurance
  • Also the clinical case scenarios to assist in me translating dry needling into clinical practice.

Awesome Detail in Course Manual

Hi Doug,

Just wanted to say I really enjoyed the lower quadrant course, especially the clinical reasoning and extra theory/knowledge you put in to your courses.  Looking at a colleagues dry needling course manual the detail is less than half of what you include and documentation of needling is poor.  I am glad I spent the extra time and money on doing your courses as clinically I think it is much more beneficial.

Dry Needling for Chiropractors

as a chiropractor, dry needling has helped achieve better clinical outcomes via decreased neuromuscular tension and decreased pain levels, allowing for improved patient compliance with home care as exercise is not as painful. Course Goes Beyond Dry Needling

Doug I found the;

  • + case study presentations
  • + demos and low ratio of student to presenter
  • + plantar fascia discussion

all very helpful.

This course goes beyond just needling skills and pushes your ability to clinically reason. It encourages thinking outside the box and to question what is already 'given knowledge'. It's been a pleasure being in your course the past 4 days.

Brisbane to Perth - Worth the Trips

I have completed three Anatomical Acupuncture courses, traveling from Brisbane to Perth for each course. Prior to the first course I researched the available Dry Needling courses and based on participant feedback and course outlines decided the Anatomical Acupuncture course best suited my professional requirements.

It has been well worth the travel - the courses are of high quality and each course has not only provided me with useful clinical skills that I use daily in practice, but challenged me to consider more analytically my treatment options. Another benefit has been in providing my patients with a more thorough anatomical analysis of their problem.

I have become a better skilled and more confident practitioner as a result of attending these courses.

Customised Course

Hi Doug,

Thank you very much for coming up to Perth and specifically designing a program for us. Communication prior to the course was top standard, the custom upper limb program was very detailed and the pre-reading material was extensive. Layout of course manual with accompanying technique DVD with video was fantastic.
We were hoping that the program would provide us with the knowledge and skills to improve our hand and upper limb therapy services through the provision of AAP Education and this expectation was definitely met.
Everyone was really pleased with the professional level it was set at and it has definitely motivated us to continually improve both our treatment skills and practice as a whole.
Your course and the way you conducted it was great Doug, I would have no hesitation in referring you to others in hand and upper limb occupational therapy for AAP courses.

Broadened my treatment HEAPS!

Dear Doug,
I have meant to write to you for a long time now regarding the courses I completed with you in July. I wanted to write to say thank you so much for everything over those 6 days. I found the courses ABSOLUTELY fantastic and they provided me with a much more holistic and open-minded view while starting in on my physiotherapy career.

During uni, there was so much focus on joints, joints, joints and Maitland techniques as the 'be all and end all' of treatment. Adding acupuncture to my clinical set of skills and the knowledge of how it can be utilised to impact upon patients' conditions and their symptoms has been vital in developing myself as a more broad-minded physiotherapist.
Thank you again.

Challenging and useful course

I started to learn acupuncture quite a number of years ago with Doug's Introductory course in Acupuncture. I returned to my clinic immediately enthusiastic to implement my new skill. In January 2010, I decided to consolidate and further my skills and knowledge by doing the Advanced Upper Quadrant Course with Doug. As a sports physiotherapist since 1993, I was amazed how acupuncture was such a valuable and complimentary adjunct in treating patients.
I now view the body quite differently when I am treating and quite specifically think about layers of muscles in the body and what I'm actually targeting when I'm treating. I often say to my patients that my thumbs can only reach so far, but an acupuncture needle can reach a deeper region that may be causing problems.
The course is very anatomically driven, with a thorough review of anatomy and more specifically surface anatomy. The course is clinically orientated and practical, outlining signs and symptoms that various muscles can present and also putting into perspective other physiotherapy modalities that are required to give a more holistic approach to treatment. Skills are learned that can be put into practice immediately.
Now having done the advanced course, I have returned to my clinic with more knowledge, skill and confidence.
Thank you.

Introductory Course

The Introductory/Refresher Course was Excellent, both in clinical reasoning and in the practical sessions.
The locations of trigger points, the areas of referred pain/sensation and the effects of releasing them have already proven valuable in my diagnosis and treatments.
The differential diagnosis of problem muscles and the associated anatomy would have been useful even without dry needling.

Advanced Upper & Lower Quadrant Course
